The Orphans Society of Philadelphia, located next to the Indigent Widows' Society, was destroyed in a fire in 1822, resulting in the deaths of twenty-three children. This resolution from the managers of the Orphan Society expresses thanks to the Indigent Widows Society for providing shelter to the surviving orphans rendered homeless after the fire.
