Description Martha A. B. Conine was the first woman elected to the Colorado House of Representatives, in 1896. She represented Arapahoe County and served from 1897-1898. Conine had been a prominent leader in the women's clubs of Denver before her election. In the state legislature Conine worked to establish assistance for young women who had in the juvenile justice system. Thanks her for her hospitality and details of her travels.
