Chairman Committee on Organization, Carrie Chapman Catt, 106 World Building, New York. NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS. August 10, 1897. (dictated) Dear Mrs. Chapman:-- I have changed the preliminary announcement of the Course of Study, according to your suggestion, and enclose a copy. I will ask you to correct it and return. I nave not sent a copy to the others as the change was made on your suggestion. You will remember that you extended an invitation to Mr. Catt and me to visit you the last week in August. This is to say that it will be impossible to come. We have had company at the house nearly all summer which kept me back in my Headquarters work, so I shall be obliged to buckle down to hard work for the remainder of this month and September. I imagine this will be a relief to you rather than a disappointment for I dare say you, too, have had your house full, and I am sure you will be glad to have a rest. We have an idea as to how you can make money for the State when the fall work opens up. I enclose a bill for rent for the two months Miss Cassidy worked for the Association. It is not necessary that this be paid before October 1st. unless you feel so inclined. You spoke about the Annual Meeting in your letter. I am wonder ing if you are obliged to hold it at a regular time. I presume so and that it must be held in October. If it were later I might have a suggestion to make which perhaps would help you out financially. With love and best wishes, I am, Yours truly, [signature] Carrie C. Catt.
